So as a novice teacher, make it simple for instance as such "What do you think?" this question interrupts us from telling too much, there is a place for direct instruction where we give students information but yet we need to always strive to balance this by giving opportunities for students to use their schemata and understanding.
Moreover, ask them "What do you think?" after students share what they think, this question pushes them to provide reasoning for their thinking. "How do you know this?" when this question is asked, students can make connections to their ideas and thoughts with things they've experienced, read, or have seen. "Can you tell more?" this question can help students to extend their thinking. "What questions do you still have?" this question allow students offer questions they have about the information.
P.S. as a teacher always plan and prepare your questions before coming to class.

There are many kinds of questions that the teacher have to use in the class. For example, there are direct and referential questions. T he teacher can model questioning in front the students especially if they are reading a story and she wants them to predict what will happen next this will help students to have critical thinking and wide imagination.
ReplyDeleteAs a voice teacher its essential also to know fallacies of questions, for example many teacher ask a question and directly answer it by herself without t giving students any chance participate or even think about the question, although teacher goal is to attract the students yet using this technique of question will make the students less motivated to think of it and sometime they don’t less at all if the teacher use it always
ReplyDeleteteachers should plan their questions ahead of time, but no matter what they do, there remains certain questions that teachers could not have anticipated at home, this is proof that the students are not as limited as we teachers think they are, and so forces us to always think of questions that really provoke curiosity and allow students to experience the feeling of satisfaction when they discover the real answers to such big questions
